Job Summary
Evaluates a company’s product needs and developing products that reflect their brand or customer base. Their duties include, brainstorming product ideas and material needs with the production or sales teams, designing product blueprints using CAD programs and working with manufacturing in the launch of new products. Communicates with customers on new programs and provides application support as needed. Pulls together cost information for new quotes and opportunities and supports Purchasing in identifying new prospective suppliers. This position will be focused on Kelco’s Guardian product line.
Essential Functions
- Works with Sales in providing required technical support for new products.
- Develops, evaluates, and improves product manufacturing methods.
- Provides application and technical support for customers.
- Works with Manufacturing to ensure a timely and flawless launch for our customers on new products.
- Completes drawings and follows Engineering Change Notice process when changes are required.
- Provides drawings and models to suppliers and manufacturing as needed for new products.
- Supports Quality in ensuring appropriate product characteristics are evaluated in production.
- Supports Purchasing with technical support related to supplier product evaluations.
- Confers with staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
- Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes, and product cost for quoting new products.
Qualifications
- Able to use Computer Aided Design (CAD) programs to create product concepts.
- Gathers materials or resources needed to design the products.
- Able to evaluate products for usability and safety.
- Effectively communicate product requirements to manufacturing team.
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to understand the market demand for new products.
- Ability to complete assigned projects on time.
- Performs other related duties and special projects as required and assigned by the Manager.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is preferred.
- Four to six years related experience and/or training. or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge in the design of Solenoids or similar electromechanical products is preferred.
